Call for Proposals

 

A call for proposals is being launched in the framework of the Global Enterprise R&D Collaboration Agreement between the Israel Innovation Authority and DNP. DNP is one of the world's largest comprehensive printing companies, with annual sales of USD 13.3 billion and approximately 40,000 employees as of March 2016. DNP's wide range of businesses include publication and commercial printing, smart cards, photo imaging products, packaging, decorative materials, pharmaceutical materials, advanced functional film, display components, and electronic devices. 

 

The agreement between IIA and DNP aims to encourage cooperation between Israeli companies and DNP in the areas of research and development in various fields.   

DNP invites Israeli companies to submit proposals on joint R&D projects in the following fields:

 

A.  Technologies for Human-Robot Interaction

·          Human-motion detection/emotion recognition based upon images, laser sensors etc.

·          Wearable devices to gather biometric data, and to recognize health/emotional conditions

·          Natural language processing/understanding (English)

·          Mood recognition based upon tone of voice/intonation

B. Management technology of key for blockchain

·          Need to correspond to the growing amount of data.

·          Need to keep back-up system up-to-date.

·          Need to show the prototype

C. Authenticity related technology for IoT devices

·          On certificating authenticity of system including a secure chip like a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) which is done secure boot with using hash value and certificate, 

·          Function of alert outside via network when authenticity is not certified.

·          Updating BIOS, firmware, OS and its application software, via network with guaranteeing authenticity.

D. Sensors for infrastructure

·          Sensors for detecting crack, vibration, strain and leaking water.

·          Can be produced on a large scale

·          Need to provide samples

·          Telecommunication function is preferable

·          Maintenance-free for a decade is preferable

E.    Secured Communication Technology

·         New Bluetooth Technology (especially Bluetooth Low Energy) to enable peer-to-peer robust data transport between devices such as smartphones and terminals

F. Devices (Hardware) capable of holding natural language dialogue/communication

·         No need to be humanoids

·         Either mobile or immobile

·         Focusing on dialogue/communication

·         Need to be compact

·         Targeting applications such as customer service at stores etc.

 

Companies that are interested in applying should send a summary proposal to dnp-cfp2016@matimop.org.il with a copy to Noam.BarGal@ocs.economy.gov.il.

 

The proposals will be evaluated, on behalf of the Innovation Authority and DNP. Companies, whose proposals are found suitable, will be invited to submit requests for support within the Israel Innovation Authoriy's Framework for R&D Cooperation with Multinational Companies. Approved applications will receive the following assistance: 

  • A Chief Scientist Grant of up to 50% of the project's approved budget

  • Additional assistance from DNP of the same budget amount in-kind, for support in the technological, regulatory and marketing areas; use of laboratory equipment for R&D; sub-contractors and professional consultants; etc.
