Israel- Nevada Water Innovation Partnership Call for proposals

This call is published in the framework of the recently signed MOU between WaterStart in Nevada and the Israel Innovation Authority in order to create a practical mechanism for accelerating development and deployment of water tech solutions. Through this cooperation, both States economies and industries benefit from the expertise and resources of each partner.

Recognizing that both the State of Nevada and the State of Israel share close ties and share global position in water innovation, WaterStart and the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aiming to encourage cooperation in industrial research and development of technologies related to drinking water, wastewater, industrial treatment, agriculture, and power use of water and other technology-based industry sectors. The Innovation Authority and WaterStart provide funding for joint projects in the area of water technology.   

Pilot project in Nevada

Israeli companies are invited to apply for the Israel Innovation Authority and the WaterStart grants for a proof of concept/pilot project to be conducted in Nevada with a local partner. 

The current call for proposals is focusing on the following technologies solutions:

1.     Removal of entrained air in well water

2.     Reduction of total dissolved solids in well water

3.     Utility location technology

4.     Using software to aid in the development of accurate electrical as-built drawings

5.     Reduction of in-situ disinfection byproduct formation for groundwater recharge applications (TTHMs)

6.     Technologies for improving reliability and operation of drip irrigation systems as well as reducing management costs

7.     Identifying alternative grass solutions for optimizing water consumption

8.     Monitoring and improving well casing conditions while reducing maintenance and operation costs associated with the operation of groundwater wells supplying outdoor demand for water

9.     Water automation- commercial hand faucets (pre-dishwashing stations)

FUNDING ELIGIBILITY

Companies with relevant solutions should submit the following information as PDF files to WaterStart:

·          How the technology company heard about this call for proposals

·          Business description/model

·          Product/Market fit (be specific as to which technology priority the proposal is addressing from the technology priority list)

·          Existing customers/letters of Intent

·          Management team profile

·          Competitive edge of technology

·          Current funds raised

·          Proposed activity

·          Specific request for support

·          Potential economic benefit to Nevada (no. of jobs created)

 

Narrative responses to this RFP must not exceed 3 pages in length (not including supplemental materials). Supplemental materials, if necessary, must not exceed an additional 5 pages in length.  

1.    Companies that are selected for funding will need to enter into a binding grant agreement with WaterStart that specifies the amount of the company’s contribution, and identifies milestones/deliverables, prior to receiving a formal grant award and being able to draw funds against it.

2.    Grants made under this program are designed to leverage existing regional assets and support the implementation of water technology solutions for communities. WaterStart provides funding on a competitive basis to support economic development, foster job creation, and attract private investment in Nevada and address the states needs for innovative water technologies.

 

R&D performing companies registered and operating in Israel. Universities and Research Centers can participate as sub-contractors.

Applicants must complete and submit all of the following:

1.    The IIA- WaterStart Collaboration Form- Appendix A attached

2.    The IIA National Funding Application as described in the IIA Guidelines form attached

3.    The Cooperative Agreement which addresses the intellectual property rights and commercialization strategy between the partnership entities.

Companies are required to comply with the application requirements set forth and the respective funding program conditions in each jurisdiction.


GRANT AWARDS

Project costs will be shared between the successful Israeli companies, the Israel Innovation Authority and WaterStart.

Selected applicants can receive:

·          Up to a maximum of $100,000 from WaterStart to support eligible project costs.

·          Of the remaining budget the Innovation authority can support up to 50% of the Israeli companies approved project budget.

 

Companies will be required to provide an equal or greater amount of matching share to the grant award in any combination of equipment, services, or monetary contribution for approved R&D expenditures associated with the approved grant award.
