Overview :
Established in 1994, the company’s business is in the fast growing market of Multiplex Communication. YAMAR is developing products based on its patented DC-BUS technology for communication on noisy battery power lines for applications in the fields of Automotive Electronics, Security, Cellular, Mobile Computing, to name but a few.
The DC-BUS technology enables communication of Data, Voice, Music and Video signals by digital means over Direct Current (DC) battery lines like those used in every vehicle. YAMAR succeeded to deploy advanced digital communication techniques tailored to overcome hostile and noisy environment such as on vehicle battery lines in a small size silicon device. Customers integrate the devices into modules utilizing their own application (e.g. within Navigation modules for communication with cars’ Odometer).
YAMAR has solutions for each of the multiplexed data communication bus categories:
** Mechantronics - The QDC family of devices for multiplex communication @ 10Kbps for command and control of applications such as Sensors and Actuators commonly used in vehicles (e.g. Climate control, Door module, Immobilizer, Obstacle detector). Interface to Synchronous, J1850 and CAN Protocols.
** Telematics - DCB device is designed for Voice and Data communication bus @ 250Kbps. This solution will proliferate with the deployment of the emerging data bus standard (SAE ITS Data Bus).
** Multimedia - DCB102 for Music communication - Yamar introduced a prototype for CD quality music @1.7Mbps on a DC power line. Application example: link between CD Changer in the trunk and a Head unit on the dashboard.
DC-BUS Benefits
* Flexible Car Electronics Architecture
* Saving the Cost and Weight of Ordinary Wiring
* Flexible Modifications of new installations
* Simplicity of installation, only single connection to a battery line required
* Additional data bandwidth on the battery line of existing data buses
* No modification is needed for protocols such as J1850, CAN, IDB.
The company sees the mass markets as its strategic focus. Therefore, its main activity is in Europe, Japan and USA, where multi million vehicle manufacturers and their tear one suppliers expressed the interest in the DC-BUS technology. The company is a member of the ISO TC22 WG1 for vehicle serial communication and in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) ITS Data Bus (IDB) committee. YAMAR''s potential market is greater than $150M a year.
