YISSUM RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT COMPANY is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is the exclusive owner of the University''s know-how and intellectual property.
YISSUM''s main activity is to create business arrangements with industry to commercialize innovations of the Hebrew University scientists.
Currently, YISSUM is promoting over 200 projects in the areas of Biotechnology, Pharmaceutics, Medicine, Basic and Applied Physics, Chemistry and Material sciencies, Computer sciencies and Agriculture (including food technology and nutrition). Most of the projects require a further period of R&D (2-10 years) before they are ready for marketing.
The ideal partner would be relevant industries and/or capital venture groups.The typical agreement would involve licensing of technology and/or forming a joint venture around it.
YISSUM registers approximately 30-40 patents a year for new technologies and owns a total of some 400 patents to date.
