MOTOROLA ISRAEL LTD. (MIL) develops and manufactures a wide range of radio communications and electronic equipment. The company''s main activities are the design and development of products for worldwide marketing and manufacture, and the sale and maintenance of Motorola''s communications products and systems. Over 80% of the company''s products have been developed locally.
MIL also develops innovative products for its parent company Motorola Inc. U.S.A., and has over 500 development engineers and computer scientists.
MIL is developing the next generation of communication products such as the digital radio and mobile/portable radio based terminals.
Manufactured at its Tel Aviv plant and by its Motorola South Israel Ltd. affiliate in Arad, MIL''s products also include two-way radios (FM, VHF, UHF) HF-SSB radio systems radio telemetry command and control systems computerised irrigation systems high speed data transmission systems radio-portable data communication systems and application software. Unique products for Europe, Japan and other international markets are also manufactured. MIL pioneered trunked systems (VHF, 800 MHz, 900 MHz), the 12.5 kHz spacing paging services in Israel and the digital radio system MIRS (iDEN).
As an integral part of the Motorola Inc. Land Mobile Products Sector, MIL benefits from the advanced manufacturing technologies developed by Motorola worldwide. The highly automated manufacturing is based on SMD (Surface Mounted Devices) technology, and all proccesses - placement, insertion, IR reflow, wave soldering and automatic testing - are controlled by SPC (Statistical Process Control) techniques.
MIL channels more than 10% of its annual sales turnover into R&D and invests considerable resources in quality
assurance. All new products are subjected to extreme environmental testing procedures known as ALT (Accelerated Life Test). This dedication to quality has been recognised by attaining numerous prestigious awards including both the Rothschild and Kaplan export, industry and quality prizes.
