EUREKA–A Network for Market-Oriented R&D
A pan-European network for market-oriented, industrial R&D
Created as an intergovernmental initiative in 1985, EUREKA aims to enhance industrial competitiveness through its support to businesses, research centers and universities who carry out pan-European projects to develop innovative products, processes and services. Through its flexible and decentralized network, EUREKA offers project partners rapid access to a wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise across Europe and facilitates access to national public and private funding schemes. Through a EUREKA project, partners develop new technologies for which they agree the Intellectual Property Rights and build partnerships to penetrate new markets.
Israel joined EUREKA as a full member, and currently takes part in more than 10% of the EUREKA project portfolio. EUREKA provides very useful cooperation instruments for Israeli industry. Through the framework of EUREKA, Israeli companies can participate and receive funding for bilateral and multinational cooperative projects with companies from the following 40 member states [whether or not Israel has a bilateral agreement with the country]:
Austria │Belgium │ Bulgaria │ Croatia │ Cyprus │ Czech Republic │ Denmark │Estonia │Finland │ France │ Germany │ Greece │ Hungary │ Iceland │ Ireland │ Italy │Latvia │ Lithuania │ Luxembourg │ Macedonia │ Malta │ Monaco │The Netherlands │ Norway │ Poland │ Portugal │ Romania │ Russia │ San Marino │ Serbia │ Slovakia │ Slovenia │ Spain │ Sweden │ Switzerland │ Turkey │ Ukraine │ United Kingdom │Canada │ South Korea
The demand for EUREKA instruments is increasing. Every year, more EUREKA projects with Israeli participants are being labeled and funded. Currently, more than 10% of EUREKA project portfolio includes an Israeli participant.
- EUREKA Clusters provide a unique opportunity to team up with market leaders in the ICT, Water and Energy sectors. These thematic programs generate calls and label projects, driving European standards and the inter-operability of products and technologies in specific industrial domains.
- Each year hundreds of EUREKA individual projects
are initiated by European companies, an increasing number of which are SMEs. These contribute to improved well being, security, environment and employment in Europe and beyond.
provides a unique platform for innovative SMEs and start-up companies to synergize with partners and start new projects, funded through earmarked funds of more than 30 EUREKA member countries and the European Commission
- The EUREKA Umbrellas are thematic networks which focus on a specific technology area or business sector. The main goal of an Umbrella is to facilitate the generation of individual projects in specific sectors, such as agrofood, production and tourism.
