Israel-Italy Joint Innovation Program for Industrial, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in R&D

 

The Israel-Italy Joint Innovation Program for Industrial, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in R&D is dedicated to the development of long-term R&D collaboration between Italian and Israeli industries, in keeping with the economic strength of Italy its technological position in the world, and with the special abilities of the Israeli technological industrial infrastructure and its international position.

 

BASIS FOR COLLABORATION

 

The program implements the following agreement: Bilateral R&D Agreement between Israel and Italy signed in Bologna on June 13th, 2000

 

The Parties

 

Israel: MATIMOP, on behalf of the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) of the  Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor)

 

Italy:   Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Directorate General for Mediterranean and Middle East Countries” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs       

 

Preferred Technologies/Sectors

 

Joint Italian-Israeli R&D projects can be presented in the following areas:

 

·         Medicine, public health and hospital organization;

·         Biotechnology;

·         Agriculture and food science

·         New energy sources and natural resource use;

·         Applications of informatics to education and scientific research;

·         Environment

·         Communication

·         Innovation production processes

·         Space

·         Information technologies, data communication, software ;

·         Any other areas of mutual interest;

 

Program Administration

 

The program maintains representatives in both Italy and Israel; Italian and Israeli entities should contact their respective representatives at any time.

 

One call for proposals is published per year. The call is open for 3 to 4 months for submission of application forms.

 

Application Procedures
 

- Partner Search Form - MATIMOP, together with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will assist companies to find an appropriate partner.  Forms are available for companies seeking assistance in locating potential partners. 

 

- Cooperation Form - Companies which already have partners may obtain a “pre-ruling” or initial assessment of the joint project by submitting a Cooperation Form. An initial assessment of a joint project will be performed upon submission of the Cooperation Form. The project application must be sent, simultaneously to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Middle East Department of the “Directorate General for Mediterranean and Middle East Countries”) and Israeli Authorities (Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor - Office of the Chief Scientist – OCS, through MATIMOP, the Israeli Industry Center for R&D) by means of the attached application form in English language.

 

The application must be filled out completely and signed by the person responsible for the project.

 

- Respective National Forms - OCS Forms for Israeli Companies: The projects approved by the Italian and Israeli Authorities, which will be selected in the framework of the Calls, will be financed by contracting Parties of the Agreement. The support will be given to each partner by its own Authorities in accordance with the national and/or regional Laws, Rules, Regulations and Procedures in effect.

 

Israeli companies should submit their applications on the OCS application forms. 

 

CALLS FOR PROPOSALS:

 

There is currently an open Call for Proposals for Joint Italian-Israeli R&D Projects under the EUREKA framework, with an application deadline of May 3, 2012.
