BMC Software Israel Ltd. was founded in 1983 as 4th Dimension and
in 1995 became New Dimension Software Ltd. In April 1999, BMC
Software Inc. acquired New Dimension Software for US$650 million,
in what was then the largest high-tech deal in Israel's history.
At the time of its acquisition, New Dimension Software was one of
Israel's largest software companies and among the 100 largest
software companies in the world.
As a strategic business unit of BMC Software, local operations
have seen substantial growth in size and activity. Staffing has
increased by roughly 40% and sales have risen to US$160 million
under the new organization.
In January 2000, BMC Software Israel, expanded its existing
facilities in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem with the opening of a new
development site in Tel Hai. In May 2000, BMC Software's
involvement in Israeli high tech grew with the acquisition of
OptiSystems Ltd., worth US$70 million.
