to supply local farmers with high quality vegetable field crop
seeds, HAZERA today is a high-tech enterprise, developing seeds
of the finest quality marketing throughout the world. It makes
the art of farming into a profitable science. The company
develops unique hybrid seeds which guarantee farmers the highest
yields. By selecting seeds with a fixed genetic type, farmers can
be assured of produce which is attractive, tasty, travels well
and has a long shelf life.
HAZERA's supplies its local market with a broad range of field
crop and vegetable seeds including wheat, corn, cotton and
vegetables. Hybrids, which have proven especially popular on
export markets, include tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions and
melons.
HAZERA's achievements in developing new seed varieties would not
be possible without considerable investment in research and
development. Some 15% of the company's total turnover is devoted
to R&D investment, amounting to more than $6 million annually.
More than 40 researchers are employed in the company's R&D
division. 90% of the R&D budget is targeted for developing
tailor-made seeds, particularly smart seeds which answer farmers'
specific needs. HAZERA's breeding programs, carried out in
cooperation with lsrael's leading agricultural research
institutes, have established a remarkable record for producing
successful and fruitful seed varieties. HAZERA, ever mindful of
environmental hazards and of damage caused by plant diseases,
emphasizes the development of hardy seed stocks. Farmers are thus
saved the added expense of agrochemicals while a significant
contribution is thereby made to environmental protection.
