This year, three of ZERAIM's breeding programs have reached the
stage of releasing new commercial varieties:
* Cherry and Cocktail Tomatoes with excellent shelf-life, great
taste (very high T.S.S) and disease resistance.
* Sweet Peppers Blocky Type, tolerant to cracking in winter
production, good vine storage, good firmness and terrific colour.
* Seedless Watermelons both Tiger Stripe and Crimson type with
excellent colour, taste and texture.
ZERAIM's R&D is propelled by the marketing people, who identify
the trends in the fields and on the shelves. The target of ZERAIM
GEDERA's R&D is the creation and improvement of new varieties
combining classic breeding for quality traits such as taste,
uniformity and high yield, with new safe molecular methods such
as assisted selection with genetic markers on the DNA level for
disease resistance and certain quality traits.
With the increased demand for environmentally friendly
agriculture, ZERAIM GEDERA is taking its first steps in
developing organic seeds.
Marketing and customer service are the driving forces of the
company. Emphasis is placed on agrotechnical service and
information professionally trained agronomists cooperate with
authorized distributors in more than 30 countries.
A new Marketing Channel Relation program is being developed as
part of the never-ending effort to strengthen the special contact
the company already has with its customers.
Taking a more vertically integrated view, ZERAIM GEDERA has
launched programs to include all aspects of the market chain,
from distributor to final fresh produce consumer.
ZERAIM's most important products are: greenhouse tomatoes with
long shelf life, hybrid melons, cucumbers and peppers, hybrid
