research and development and are marketed mainly to the
agricultural sector. In Israel, growing mixes based on perlite
and vermiculite are used for growing vegetables and flowers,
saplings in "speedling" nurseries, house plants and home
gardening. Vermiculite - golden flakes, and perlite - greyish
white granules, undergo a process of high temperature roasting
and controlled granular grading which impart specific properties
of which the following are prominent: super-light aggregates,
excellent capability of preserving water/air equilibrium,
sterile, insect and general pest repellants, non-toxic, improved
and selective absorbance of water, environment friendly.
