Overview

COMPUGEN (NASDAQ: CGEN), a therapeutic and diagnostic discovery
company, develops innovative predictive technologies in drug
discovery, diagnostics and molecular biology. COMPUGEN applies
those technologies along with standard experimental methods to
discover and validate novel drugs candidates, biomarkers and drug
targets.
COMPUGEN's mission is to be the world leader in the discovery and
licensing of product candidates to the drug and diagnostic
industry.

The Company's R&D group is truly multidisciplinary, with teams
comprised of mathematicians, computer scientists, molecular
biologists and biochemists working together to invent and refine
new methods for understanding proteins, pathways and disease
processes. The Company's powerful discovery platforms enable the
predictive discovery of numerous potential therapeutics and
diagnostic biomarkers. COMPUGEN currently has active programs in
the fields of Therapeutic Proteins and Diagnostic Biomarkers.

COMPUGEN's present R&D activities are all focused around (i) the
development of new discovery platforms and their application to
strengthen and expand the company's technological base for future
discovery efforts, (ii) utilizing the growing inventory of
discovery platforms - on its own or through collaborations - to
discover novel protein and peptide drug candidates, various types
of biomarkers and antibody drug targets and (iii) pursuing, both
internally and through collaborations, the initial product
development of selected discoveries.

The leading discovery programs are:

1. Therapeutic Proteins.
Novel therapeutic protein candidates with positive in-vitro and
in-vivo results in the fields of cancer, inflammatory disease and
cardiovascular disorders.

2. Diagnostic Biomarkers
The program consists of biomarker discovery at the DNA, RNA and
protein levels for a variety of applications. Experimental
validation of each candidate marker is carried out using a robust
quantitative RT-PCR protocol, sequencing methods and antibody-
and ELISA-based assays.

3. Discovery platforms
*GPCR Ligands discovery platform - The goal of the technology is
to identify naturally-occurring novel peptides that act as
effective GPCR ligands.

* Large-Scale Genetic Variations discovery platform - To date
COMPUGEN has identified thousands of novel non-SNP variations in
the human genome; has developed a practical experimental process
to assay large numbers of such variations in parallel. Potential
applications include novel biomarkers for drug development, drug
response or disease predisposition prediction.

* Antibody Targets discovery platform - A discovery engine for
identifying novel targets for mAb-based therapies has been
developed.

* Toxicity Predictors discovery platform - Based on the same
infrastructure from which the screening biomarkers were derived,
COMPUGEN developed methods for identifying tissue-specific
proteins, which may be used for the early detection of tissue
damage induced by drugs. These methods are at the base of an
agreement with Teva Pharmaceutical Industries focusing on the
early detection of tissue damage in preclinical studies
(initially targeting nephrotoxicity).

*New Indications for Existing Drugs discovery platform - COMPUGEN
has developed a new discovery engine for the identification of
existing drug molecules that are predicted to have important
therapeutic indications that are currently not known. Unlike
product discovery efforts by others in this area, Compugen's
approach is designed to lead to the identification of those drugs
predicted to have new indications from amongst all available
drugs.

*Disease-Associated Conformation Blockers (DAC Blockers)
discovery platform - The platform aims at the identification of
peptides that block proteins from adopting their
disease-associated conformations (DAC). The platform enables a
proteome-wide search for such conformational change blocking
peptides in human, viral and bacterial proteomes. Peptides, which
were discovered using this platform, have shown biological
efficacy in experimental models, demonstrating both their
potential therapeutic utility and the validity of the platform's
predictive capability.

*EGFR-MAP Kinase Pathway modelling - COMPUGEN is head of SIMAP,
an EU consortium of companies and academic organizations seeking
to develop a comprehensive simulation of a biochemical model of
the EGFR-MAP kinase pathway in connection to clinical phenotype.
