hardware providing customized speech and breathing training tools
and comprehensive courseware for use in treatment in the
professional clinic and in the patient's home.
STS's first product is The Dr. Fluency(R) Computerized Stutter
Treatment Program. Developed in cooperation with Haddassah
University Hospital in Jerusalem, the program provides stutterers
and clinicians with a complete and
comprehensive course of treatment.
The main product of STS is Dr. Fluency Computerized Stuttering
Treatment Program. It is a user-friendly program designed for
home-based treatment of stuttering under the supervision of a
qualified therapist. The program is the only one of its kind on
the market, and is offered to the individual stutterers at low
cost through the therapists. The program features over 400
graphics and animation. Interactive self-evaluation dialogues,
real-time computer feedback and analyses, provides the therapists
with precise information on patient progress, and identifying
problem areas. The program includes a comprehensive patient
record data base. The program provides stutterers with a long
term fluent speech maintenance program to alleviate the chronic
problem of post-treatment regression. The program is now offered
in English, German and Hebrew version. A Swedish version is under
development, and other languages under consideration. The program
is designed for adult stutterers, and a children version is now
under development.
Development of additional spin-off products, such as computerized
program for other treatment of other speech problems is under
consideration.
STS, Ltd. has been approved by the Continuing Education Board of
the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to
sponsor continuing educational programs in speech-language
pathology and audiology. This program is offered for a maximum .3
to .4 CEUs (Introductory Level; Professional Area). (ASHA
