Overview

The ISRAEL PLASTICS & RUBBER CENTER LTD. - IPRC, was founded in
1981 by the Society of Israel Plastics & Rubber Industries with
the aim to provide research, development and professional
training services to the plastics and rubber industries at cost
effectiveness. These activities were aimed at enhancing the
technological infrastructure and professional level in these
industries, assisting them to increase its competitive edge in
the local and export markets.

IPRC's Mission is to advance and promote the technological
infrastructure and professional education in the plastics and
rubber industries.

The activities of IPRC are focused at:
* Applied and basic research
* Process, materials and product development
* Testing and characterization of materials, processes and
products
* Promotion of quality engineering
* Advancement of professional training for operators, technicians
and engineers
* Gathering and distribution of technical, commercial and
marketing information
* Promotion of international cooperation with overseas plastics
and rubber industries and R&D centers

The cooperation between IPRC and the Academia started 10 years
ago when an agreement was reached with Shenkar College for
Engineering & Design to transfer the Plastics & Rubber Education
Center to Shenkar's campus. The infrastructure of the Education
Center that includes a complete workshop and testing laboratory,
serves as the base for the Polymers & Plastics Engineering
Department. The department started its activities in 1994 and
since then eight classes graduated.
The Center employs 35 professionals among them Lecturers in the
Department.

IPRC operates in two locations: in Shenkar (Ramat Gan) and in the
Technion (Haifa). The Center is engaged in advanced R&D projects
financed by both national and international companies and
establishments. The ability of the Center to carry out both basic
research and applied development work, turns IPRC to be a unique
R&D organization with world recognition and accomplishments.
