advance in closure for gastrointestinal surgery in more than 40
years. NiTi's proprietary technology represents a breakthrough in
natural healing with tissue-sparing, uniform Compression
Anastomosis. The company's unique line of products utilizes
Nitinol-based elements to press together the ends of resected
tissue, enabling a natural reconnection of the intestine.
Connecting sections of the intestine after the surgical removal
of a diseased portion has been the subject of research and
invention since the 19th century. The goal has been to find a
method to eliminate the leakage associated with anastomosis.
Exposing the peritoneal cavity to bowel contaminants can be
fatal. An ideal method would eliminate leaking or constricting
and create a wide patent lumen, in an automated quick manner.
Additionally, a method that facilitates a natural healing
process, reduces strictures and adhesions, leaves no permanent
foreign elements behind, and preserves the natural tissue
structure would further ensure anastomotic inTEGRITY. Stapling
falls
short of the ideal because it involves puncturing and crushing
tissue which can lead to excessive inflammation, infection, and
leakage. Compression Anastomosis - pressing bowel ends together
until natural healing creates an anastomosis - represents a
closer approach to the ideal.
However, it has taken many generations of technology to develop a
device that is effective against anastomotic failure, such as
leakage.
NiTi SURGICAL SOLUTIONS' shape memory surgical rings, clips, and
appliers are the next generation in internal tissue-closure
devices. These advanced devices are designed for treatment of
colorectal, gastric and upper gastrointestinal disease requiring
surgical anastomosis. An elegant yet simple range of specially
designed instruments has been created for, side-to-end as well as
endoluminal end-to-end and other circular techniques. NiTi's
devices are creatively engineered for a variety of procedures
including hand-assisted laparoscopic, laparoscopic and open
surgeries.
The company is commercializing a family of CE-marked and
FDA-cleared disposable tissue closure devices.
Founded in Israel's high-tech corridor in 1996, NiTi has thrived
through a strong combination of expertise in engineering and
medicine. The privately held, venture-backed company is
headquartered in Israel with sales offices in the USA.
NiTi SURGICAL SOLUTIONS plans to expand its core competencies and
innovative technology to a variety of advanced surgical products,
techniques, and procedures.
