MCM is the developer and producer of the SteriMed, a Disinfecting
and Disposal Unit. With its compact dimensions, the SteriMed is
suitable for installation in any clinic or medical facility. The
SteriMed, a fully digitized system, can treat contaminated waste
of all kinds, including bandages, syringes, dialysis filters and
kits, scalpels, cloth, test tubes, organic material, and other
bio-medical hazardous waste.
The waste is shredded into tiny pieces, exposed to a disinfecting
solution, and during the course of a 12-minute cycle, the
SteriMed shreds the waste into tiny pieces, and washes it with a
disinfecting solution. SteriCid, the disinfecting chemical, is
more that 90% biodegradable and contains only approved
components.
Reduced by up to 90% its original volume, the waste is disposed
of like any other ordinary waste. The chopped solid waste goes to
the landfill, and the diluted chemical solution goes into the
sewage system.
The SteriMed system is approved by the CE, and by the health
departments of the majority of the U.S, states, including the New
York State Health Department. In addition, the SteriMed, meets
the requirements of the EPA., as well as the UL.
