Founded in 1995, was a subsidiary of Japanese electronics giant
Brother International Corporation. As of July 2000, ZAPEX
RESEARCH was acquired by EMBLAZE SYSTEMS with a new name EMBLAZE
RESEARCH LTD., and then EMBLAZE SEMICONDUCTOR LTD. On July,
2004 ZORAN Corporation acquired the Company and since then its
name is ZORAN Corp. MOBILE DIVISION.
ZORAN Corp. has focused on delivering high quality products that
meet the specific requirements of DVD players and recorders,
digital cameras, audio speakers and receivers, digital
televisions and set top boxes, and other new categories of
consumer electronics. ZORAN was first to market with a single
chip IC implementing six-channel Dolby Digital surround-sound
audio for home and movie theater applications. ZORAN licenses its
intellectual property to other semiconductor manufacturers.
With the acquisition of EMBLAZE SEMICONDUCTOR, ZORAN expanded its
target markets to include multimedia mobile phones.
