in the research and development of highly innovative
transcatheter intravascular devices. The company's devices
facilitate simple, safe minimally invasive medical procedures. By
concentrating on its key strength - research and development,
Rafael Medical seeks to ensure that its devices offer the medical
community the most innovative and user friendly solutions for
advancing transcatheter intravascular procedures.
The company's devices are based on the unique technology
developed by its founder and Medical Director, Dr. Elchanan
Bruckheimer, one of Israel's leading pediatric interventional
cardiologists. The technology offers a new concept for safely
implanting and retrieving a wide range of indwelling devices in a
minimally invasive manner. Based on the technology, diagnostic
and therapeutic devices (embolic filters, indwelling sensors,
peripheral venous valves, stent graphs, arterial bands, etc.) can
be delivered into small & large blood vessels alike by way of a
single size catheter.
Current research and development efforts are focused on the
completion of the SafeFlo retrievable vena cava filter. SafeFlo
Vena Cava Filter offers a unique, spiral, no-tilt design
providing simple deployment, fixation and retrieval under
ultrasound guidance. SafeFlo is a safe, user and patient friendly
device facilitating minimally invasive bedside procedures.
The SafeFlo Vena Cava Filter is expected to overcome the various
limitations of existing filters and to significantly expand the
range of indications (for vena cava filter use) and subsequently
the market for vena cava filters.
Rafael Medical's SPACE STATION (Transcatheter Intravascular Ring
Platform) is a fully retrievable intravascular platform for the
user/patient friendly and safe fixation of various devices within
blood vessels on a permanent or temporary basis. SPACE STATION
facilitates low profile, percutaneous implantation of devices
such as: Embolic filters, Indwelling sensors, Peripheral venous
valves, Endographs, Arterial bands.
The SPACE STATION technology is unique in that it offers a small,
flexible system for implanting and positioning devices within the
body. The key benefit of the SPACE STATION platform is that it
allows for the delivery of platforms for small & large blood
vessels alike by way of a small-sized (5F) delivery system.. What
ultimately defines the size of the delivery system is the size of
the device being implanted (e.g., sensor, valve) and not its
support platform. Platforms based on a stent concept require
large delivery systems for large vessels and are therefore less
patient friendly and typically require more costly implantation
procedures limiting their use.
The company has built a strong IP portfolio for protecting its
core technology as well as its various applications and devices.
