Development Ltd. promotes the commercialization of promising
applied research conducted at Tel-Aviv University (TAU). RAMOT
enables companies and entrepreneurs to exploit the University's
specialized expertise and innovative research for the benefit of
TAU, industry and society at large.
Serving as the technology-transfer arm of TAU, RAMOT acts as the
point of contact for businesses and entrepreneurs interested in
supporting existing research or initiating new projects. By
securing commercial funding and venture capital, RAMOT supports
research with the potential for significant industrial
development and market success. RAMOT actively seeks and nurtures
contacts with Israeli and international companies capable of
commercializing developed technologies or marketing
technology-based products.
Founded in 1973 as a private company, RAMOT is a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Tel-Aviv University. The University established
RAMOT with a mandate to:
* administer patents and commercialize inventions originating at
TAU
* explore and develop avenues for industrial application of TAU
research
* support applied research with commercial potential
* market TAU's innovative research and scientific expertise to
potential business partners
* establish start-up ventures and provide early-stage managerial
assistance.
RAMOT holds title to the inventions and intellectual property
derived from Tel-Aviv University research. Drawing from TAU's
broad scientific infrastructure, RAMOT provides companies and
investors with access to the latest technological know-how in an
impressive range of applied research fields.
RAMOT cooperates with companies and investors in four main ways:
** Technology licensing: granting rights to companies interested
in commercializing the outstanding technologies and intellectual
property developed at TAU.
** Contractual research: conducting research, on a project basis,
for companies desiring to benefit from TAU's world-renowned R&D
capabilities and facilities.
** Start-up companies: establishing spin-off companies, joint
ventures and "incubator" firms, and nurturing these ventures in
their early stages through ongoing managerial assistance.
** Research consortia: encouraging the dissemination of new
technologies through fruitful collaboration between industrial
companies and academic research institutes.
