peptide/protein drugs and other problematic pharmaceuticals,
which at present must be injected. This group of active agents is
characterized by their sensitivity and instability in the stomach
and intestine, or by insolubility or toxicity, resulting in poor
oral absorption and low bioavailability.
OraDel formulations are based on proprietary "coated
proliposomes" technology, consisting of "proliposomes" powder,
which is further protected by several layers of protective and
enteric coatings.
The potential market size for such orally administered
pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals is estimated at tens of
billions of dollars per year.
Starting March, 2006, OraDel is performing animal studies and is
building the infrastructure for "in-house" formulation
development and tablets production.
Until now, OraDel developed formulations of the peptide drug
salmon Calcitonin and produced several types of tablets, in
limited numbers, for animal studies. OraDel's IP include two
issued patents and several applications.
In the past the technology was applied successfully to formulate
the drugs gliburide and halofantrin, as a concept feasibility
study.
OraDel is seeking a seed investment and strategic partners.
