cocktail of proteins for treating acute and chronic wounds such
as stress ulcers, diabetic ulcers as well as improving the
outcome of cosmetic and minor surgery. The medication can reduce
hospitalization time, reduce the cost of therapy and improve the
quality of life.
Heal-Or`s topical solution is based on a family of enzymes called
Protein Kinase C (PKC), that instruct the skin to complete
certain tasks at certain times during the wound healing process.
Where one isoform of PKC may be involved in wound closure,
another one may be responsible for keeping the wound uninfected
or ensuring that the epidermal cells remain unscarred.
By isolating particular isoforms and their respective inhibitors
and activators, Heal-Or can moderate and stimulate certain steps
of the wound healing process that are not working properly.
To date, Heal-Or has shown that its therapeutic agents accelerate
the healing process of skin wounds based on in-vitro tests and
preclinical animal model studies. Initial studies directed to
healing acute wounds such as those made during cosmetic surgery
have been found to be promising. Preclinical studies on chronic
wound healing are ongoing. The company is also testing small
molecules such as inhibitors and activators that specifically
affect the various wound healing processes.
