The EUM technology is based on electromyographic (EMG)
measurement of the uterine muscle combined with a position sensor
that measures the location of the EMG electrodes. In recent
clinical trials, it was shown that the EUM technology can measure
the effectiveness of contractions better than the tocodynamometer
used in practice.
The company's first product, EUM-100, is a patent-pending
diagnostic monitor that can identify specific contractions and
accurately determine the start of labor. The EUM-100, which is
based on electromyographic (EMG) technology, takes objective
measurements of uterine electrical signals. Electrodes are placed
on the external surface of the abdomen and the monitor displays
uterine electric waves, similar to the EKG equipment used to
monitor heart functionality. The process is completely
non-invasive and provides the opportunity for immediate
assessment by a healthcare professional.
