Project title: CRITICAL COMPONENTS FOR DIRECT METHANOL FUEL CELLS
Company name : FCV LTD.
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Direct-methanol cells
KEY WORDS
Direct Methanol Cells,
Fuel Cells, Alternative Energy
PROJECT SUMMARY
Fuel cells vision (FCV) will develop critical components for
improving of Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFC). The company plans
to develop a new type of electrode that will provide performance
and cost superiority. This novel electrode has a multi functional
role - enhancement of methanol oxidation, decreases of methanol
crossover and improves current collection.
Multi Functional Electrode (MFE) approach combines several
scientific and technological novelties in a single product.
* Methanol crossover is decreased within the electrode, before
reaching the cathode and affecting the cell performance.
* Unique synthesis method of nano catalysts, which reduces the
loading of precious metals and result in increase of the power
per cm2.
* Single step fabrication on a continuous conductive substrate of
any geometric area.
The company plans to target the worldwide portable battery
business and the growing market of mobile devices power sources.
Marketing activities will be directed to launch strategic
partnerships with companies developing FC, OEM companies of
mobile electronics, to develop the end use product, and with the
car or car related industry, to develop a DM-FC for the EV
(electric vehicle) market.
